Today is Ash Wednesday. It will be 6 weeks until Easter. I was raised Catholic, although right now I have some major issues with the Catholic Church and their attitudes about many issues, but that is not what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to talk about how we always had to “give up” something for Lent. I think this year I want to start something instead of giving it up. I want to start some changes in my life. And this might be a good time to do it.
Since I last posted my dearest friends husband died very suddenly, I turned 50, Natalie will have been gone 4 years and it will be also 4 years since the ex left me. I realized that there are things that I don’t like about myself, and I can change them. So instead of giving up things I am going to start things.
I need to write more, it helps me deal with life. So I will be writing even just a sentence or posting a picture at least 5 days a week. I need to also start to excercise more, so I will be doing the same, 5 days a week between walking the dog and my Wii Fit, also I need to get things done. So each week I will be making a list of things I will do that week and get them done. Of course this is all in addition to my regular job.
See you tomorrow.
Sounds like a good project! Better than giving up chocolates or whatever. 🙂
What a great idea to start something positive instead of giving something up for lent.
I’m glad you’re back. I’ve been lurking for awhile (found you thru a link from 20th Century Woman) & admire your writing and fortitude. (Also, I gather we live very near each other–amazing how the world wide web can lead us to people in our own back yard.)
Small changes add up. And you’ll add something good to your life.
